It’s an event that Bassett Mechanical Service technicians look forward to every year – Heat’s On!
Heat’s On has been serving Dane County residents since 1987 and have performed maintenance services on over 2,500 furnaces. The program aims to reduce the occurrence of veterans going without heat or facing other life-threatening emergencies associated with home heating systems.
This year’s event hosted by Madison Area Mechanical & Sheet Metal Contractors Association and Steamfitters Local 60 had nearly 30 volunteers service 39 homes and ensure all furnaces were operating properly and safely. During the service checks, four furnaces were found in need of replacement.
Bassett Mechanical HVAC Service Technician’s Ryan Stonestreet and Jeff Schwarz took part in this year’s event. Jeff has participated in the Heat’s On event since 1987.
“I enjoy participating in the event because I get to catch up with my fellow technicians and give back. I donate my time because it’s the least I can do for our veterans who continue to give me my freedom,” said Jeff.
The veterans are very thankful to those who donated their time.
“Thank you for checking my furnace during Saturday’s Heat’s On event. I am very grateful for the service and now I have a peace of mind knowing I will be warm and safe this winter, said Veteran Wayne Qualmann.
Veterans signed up for their free furnace checks through the Dane County Veteran Services Office and the Veterans Hospital. Are you a veteran or know one who should sign up?
